Psalms 96

1 Sing [make melody, chant] to the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] a new [fresh, recently created] song; sing [to chant, praise] to the LORD, all [everything, the whole] the earth [land, territory, region]. word study 2 Sing [with joyful music, to the Lord in worship] to the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], bless [praise, honor, and kneel in worship before] His name [fame, renown, reputation]; proclaim [bear tidings, announce the good news of] His salvation [deliverance, victory, and prosperity] day [a literal or figurative space of time] after day [continually, from one day to the next]. word study 3 Declare [make known, proclaim] His glory [great honor, splendor] among [in the midst of] the nations [Gentile peoples, heathen], His wonderful [marvellous, amazing] deeds [acts, works] among [to] all [every, the whole of] peoples [nations, people groups]. word study 4 For great [exceedingly magnificent] is the LORD [Yehovah, the self-existent God], and greatly [very much, exceedingly] to be praised [celebrated, worshiped]; He is to be feared [revered, awed] above [over, superior to] all [every, the whole] gods [divine beings, Elohim]. word study 5 For [because of this reason] all [everything, the entirety] the gods [idols, false deities] of the nations [people groups, Gentiles] are [truly, in reality] idols [worthless, vain], but [in contrast] it is the LORD [Yehovah, the one true God] who made [created, formed] the heavens [the sky, the celestial realm]. word study 6 Splendor [honor, glory] and majesty [excellence, greatness] are before Him [in His presence, face to face]; strength [power, might] and beauty [loveliness, glorious appearance] fill His sanctuary [holy place, temple]. word study 7 Ascribe [give, acknowledge] to the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], O families [clans, tribes] of the nations [people, Gentiles], ascribe [give, attribute] to the LORD glory [honor, splendor] and strength [power, might]. word study 8 Ascribe [give, attribute] to the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord of all] the glory [great honor, splendor] due His name [His identity, character]; bring [lift, offer] an offering [a gift, sacrifice] and enter [come, go] His courts [His temple, presence]. word study 9 Worship [bow down, prostrate] the LORD [Yehovah] in the splendor [beauty, adornment] of His holiness [set-apart nature, sacredness]; tremble [twist, whirl, fear] before Him [in His presence, face to face], all [everything, the whole] the earth [land, territory, creation]. word study 10 Declare [say, proclaim, announce] among the nations [Gentiles, heathen, people-groups]: “The LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] reigns [rules, is King, has dominion]!” The world [earth, inhabited earth] is firmly established [set in place, stable]; it cannot be moved [shaken, disturbed]; He will judge [rule, govern, discern] the peoples [nations, people-groups, Amaw] with equity [uprightness, fairness, righteousness]. word study 11 Let the heavens [the visible universe, the abode of God] be glad [rejoice, have joy] and the earth [the land, the material world] rejoice [be glad, joyful]; let the sea [a large body of water] resound [roar, thunder], and all that fills [has everything needed, is full of] it [the fullness, a large quantity]. word study 12 Let the fields [lands, countryside] exult [jump for joy, rejoice triumphantly], and all [everything, whatsoever] that is in them [that inhabits them, which belongs to them].
