Psalms 91

1 He who dwells [lives, resides, sits] in the shelter [secret place, protection] of the Most High [the supreme God, Almighty] will abide [rest, remain, lodge] in the shadow [shade, care] of the Almighty [Shadday, all-powerful]. word study 2 I will say [declare, speak] to the LORD [Yehovah, my refuge], “You are my refuge [safe place, shelter] and my fortress [stronghold, tower of strength], my God [Elohim, the supreme One], in whom I trust [have confidence, put my faith].” word study 3 Surely He [the Lord] will deliver you from the snare [trap, net] of the fowler [hunter, one who sets traps], and from the deadly [calamitous, noisome] plague [pestilence, disease]. word study 4 He will cover you with His feathers [pinion, wing]; under His wings [the extremity of His care] you will find refuge [to seek refuge, trust]; His faithfulness [truth, stability] is a shield [buckler, protective device] and rampart [protection, defense]. word study 5 You will not [under no circumstances] fear [be afraid or revere] the terror [dread or fear] of the night [period of darkness], nor the arrow [sharp object shot from a bow] that flies [soars or is shot] by day [in the light, daily], word study 6 nor the pestilence [disease, plague] that stalks [walks, spreads] in the darkness [thick gloom, spiritual shadows], nor the calamity [destruction, ruin] that destroys [wastes, devastates] at noon [midday, when the sun is high]. word study 7 Though a thousand [a large number, multitude] may fall [be defeated, come to an end] at your side [nearby, in close proximity], and ten thousand [a myriad, countless] at your right hand [place of honor, protection], no harm will come near [approach, draw close to] you. word study 8 You will only [except, with no other exception] see it with your eyes [the ability to perceive, discern] and witness [behold, observe carefully] the punishment [recompense, reward] of the wicked [morally wrong, guilty of sin]. word study 9 Because you have made the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] your dwelling [place of rest, habitation]— my refuge [safe place, shelter], the Most High [the supreme authority, Elohim]word study 10 no [absence of, none] evil [bad, morally wrong, or harmful] will befall [meet, encounter, or happen to] you, no [not any, none] plague [disease, affliction, or calamity] will approach [come near, draw close to] your tent [dwelling, home, or place of residence]. word study 11 For [because of this reason] He will command [give orders to, appoint] His angels [messengers, spiritual guardians] concerning you to guard [keep, protect, watch over] you in all [every, each] your ways [paths, journeys, manner of life]. word study 12 They will lift [bear, hold up] you up in their hands [palms], so that you will not strike [dash, smite] your foot [with the result of injury] against a stone [rock, obstacle]. word study 13 You will tread [walk upon, step on] on the lion [a powerful predator] and cobra [a venomous snake]; you will trample [crush underfoot, overpower] the young lion [a developing or immature lion, still fierce] and serpent [a snake]. word study 14 “Because he [has set his love upon Me, delighted in Me] loves Me, I will [rescue, save, deliver] deliver him; because he knows [acknowledged] My [identity, character, reputation] name, I will [keep safe, watch over, protect] protect him. word study 15 When he calls out [cries to, invokes] to Me, I will answer [respond to, hear] him; I will be [dwell, present] with him in trouble [distress, vexation]. I will deliver [rescue, save] him and honor [glorify, esteem] him. word study 16 With long life [a lengthy and fulfilling span of days, length of days] I will satisfy [fill to the full, reward] him and show [cause to see, reveal] him My salvation [deliverance, victory, yeshua].” word study
