1 Save me, O God [having your very nature, by your power], by Your name [Your character, reputation], and vindicate me [judge me, show my innocence] by Your might [strength, power]! word study 2 Hear [give ear to, listen carefully] my prayer, O God [the supreme deity, Creator]; listen [pay attention, heed] to the words [sayings, utterances] of my mouth [my spoken thoughts, my voice]. word study 3 For strangers [foreigners, outsiders] rise up against me, and ruthless [violent, oppressive] men seek my life— men [proud, arrogant ones] with no regard [respect, consideration] for God [Elohim, the one supreme God]. Selah word study 4 Surely [without a doubt, truly] God [Elohim, the one supreme God] is my helper [supporter, one who upholds]; the Lord [my Savior] is the sustainer [upholder, one who maintains] of my soul [my life, my being]. word study 5 He will reward [repay, requite] my enemies [those who hate me, ruthless ones] with evil [harm, wrong]. In Your faithfulness [truth, loyalty], destroy [cut them off, get rid of] them. word study 6 Freely [with a willing and generous heart] I will sacrifice [offer a gift of thanksgiving] to You; I will praise [give thanks and honor] Your name, O LORD [Adonay, the sovereign Master], for it is [truly and eternally] good [beneficent and kind]. word study 7 For He has delivered [rescued, saved] me from every [all, any] trouble [adversity, affliction, distress], and my eyes [my gaze, my sight] have stared down [seen my desire upon, looked upon with triumph] my foes [enemies, opponents, those who hate me]. word study
