Psalms 41
BSA1 Blessed [happy, fortunate] is the one who cares [considereth, judges wisely] for the poor [needy, impoverished]; the LORD [Yehovah] will deliver [save, rescue] him in the day [time] of trouble [evil, adversity]. word study 2 The LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] will protect [keep safe, preserve] and preserve [keep alive, maintain] him; He will bless [bestow happiness upon, prosper] him in the land [the earth, the Promised Land] and refuse [decline, not surrender] to surrender him to the will [desire, intention] of his foes [enemies, adversaries]. word study 3 The LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] will sustain [support, strengthen] him on his bed [couch] of illness [sickness, languishing] and restore [heal, revive] him from his bed [place] of sickness [weakness, infirmity]. word study 4 I said, “O [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] LORD, be gracious [have mercy, show compassion] to me; heal [restore to health, make whole] me, for I have sinned [rebelled, acted unfaithfully] against You [the sovereign God, my Creator].” word study 5 My enemies [those who hate me] say with malice [cruel intentions, evil speak]: “When will he die [perish, come to an end] and be forgotten [his name perish, no longer remembered]?” word study 6 My visitor [one who comes to see me, a supposed friend] speaks falsehood [lies, vanity]; he gathers [collects, stores up] slander [iniquity, evil] in his heart [inner being, mind]; he goes out [abroad, to the street] and spreads [tells, shares] it [the bad news, evil report] abroad [everywhere, to all]. word study 7 All who hate [hate with malice, despise] me whisper [talk secretly, conspire] against me; they imagine [devise, plan] the worst [evil, harm] for me [against my well-being, to my detriment]: word study 8 “A [terrible, evil] vile disease [moral or natural harm] has been poured [cleaveth fast, afflicted] into him; he will never get up [rise up no more, recover] from where he lies [is bed-ridden, rests]!” word study 9 Even my close [dearest, intimate] friend [ally, companion] whom I trusted [had faith in, relied on], the one who [which, that] shared [ate of, participated in] my bread [sustenance, provision], has lifted up [turned against, betrayed] his heel [in hostility, with contempt] against me. word study 10 But You, O LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God], be gracious [merciful, have pity] to me and raise me up [lift me, enable me to become healthy again], that I may repay [requite, give recompence to] them [my enemies, those who afflict me]. word study 11 By this I know that You [have pleasure in] delight in me, for my enemy [hater, adversary] does not triumph [overcome, shout in victory] over me. word study 12 In my [moral and spiritual] integrity [uprightness, righteousness] You [as my faithful God] uphold [support, sustain] me and set [establish, place] me in Your [divine, loving] presence [before Your face, in Your sight] forever [for all eternity, always]. word study 13 Blessed [praised, worshiped] be the LORD [Yehovah], the God [Elohim, supreme Creator] of Israel, from everlasting [eternity, forever] to everlasting [perpetuity, time without end]. Amen [so be it, truly] and Amen [confirmed, established]. word study
