1 May the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] answer you in the day of trouble [adversity, distress]; may the name [reputation, character] of the God [Elohim, the supreme Protector] of Jacob [our ancestor, the one whom God transformed] protect [defend, set up on high] you. word study 2 May He [the Lord, Yehovah] send you help [support, strengthen] from the sanctuary [holy place, sacred temple] and sustain [grant support, strengthen] you from Zion [the city of God, His dwelling place]. word study 3 May He remember [keep in mind, recall] all your gifts [offerings, sacrifices] and look favorably [with delight, accept] on your burnt offerings [sacrifices, oblations]. Selah word study 4 May He [the Lord, God Almighty] give you the desires [your heart’s deepest longings, what you really want] of your heart [your innermost being, soul] and make all [every single one, everything] your plans [counsel, purposes, goals] succeed [prosper, be fulfilled, come to pass]. word study 5 May we shout for joy [triumph, sing of thy salvation] at your victory [salvation, defeat of enemies] and raise a banner [set up our banners, lift up a banner] in the name [with the authority] of our God [the supreme Creator]. May the LORD [Yehovah] grant [fulfil, answer, give] all [everything, every request] your petitions [requests, counsel, heart’s desires]. word study 6 Now I know [am fully convinced, have complete confidence] that the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] saves [rescues, delivers] His anointed [chosen king]; He answers [hears, responds to] him from His holy [set apart, sacred] heaven [heavenly throne room] with the saving [delivering, victorious] power [strength, might] of His right hand. word study 7 Some trust in chariots [and war horses] and others in horses [for battle], but we trust in the name [of Yehovah, the Lord’s personal name] of the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] our God [the sovereign ruler of all]. word study 8 They [are bent down] collapse and fall [to the ground, are brought down], but we [as a community, together] rise up [are lifted, stand upright] and stand firm [unmoved, continue standing, strong]. word study 9 O LORD [the supreme God, our Savior], save [rescue, deliver] the king [our rightful ruler, the monarch]. Answer [respond, hear our cry] us on the day [when we are in need, at the time of our calling] we call [cry out, pray to You]. word study
