Psalms 12
BSA1 Help, O LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God], for the godly [faithful, righteous] are no more; the faithful [loyal, trustworthy] have vanished [ceased to exist, failed] from among men [humanity, the children of men]. word study 2 They lie [speak falsehood, deceive] to one another; they speak with flattering [smooth] lips and a [divided, insincere] double heart. word study 3 May the LORD [the Supreme Ruler, Yehovah] cut off all [every, utterly] flattering [smooth, deceitful] lips [language, speech] and every [each, all] boastful [proud, arrogant] tongue [that speaketh proud things, speaking great things]. word study 4 They say, “With our tongues [language, speech] we will prevail [succeed, overcome]. We own our lips [words, language]—who can be our master?” word study 5 “For the cause [oppression, violence] of the oppressed [the poor, the needy] and for the groaning [sighing, weeping] of the needy [those in need], I will now arise [come to their help, rise up to defend them],” says the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme Lord and Master]. “I will bring safety [set him in safety, give him protection] to him who yearns [panteth for, is longing for].” word study 6 The words [pure, trustworthy] of the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] are flawless [perfect, without error], like silver [precious] refined [purified, tried] in a furnace [a crucible, a place of testing], like gold [valuable, highly prized] purified [refined, made pure] sevenfold [seven times, completely]. word study 7 You, O [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] LORD, will keep [preserve, protect] us; You will forever [for all eternity, to the age] guard [watch over, defend] us from this [present, evil] generation [people, age]. word study 8 The wicked [those who are morally wrong, sinners] wander [walk on every side, are freely roaming] freely, and vileness [evil, the vilest men] is exalted [honoured, promoted] among men [the sons of men, humanity]. word study
