Malachi 4

1 “For behold [look, pay attention], the day is coming [approaching, drawing near], burning like a furnace [oven, kiln], when all the arrogant [proud, haughty] and every evildoer [wicked person, wrongdoer] will be stubble [chaff, dry grass]; the day is coming when I will set them ablaze [burn them up],” says the LORD of Hosts [the Almighty, the Lord of Armies]. “Not a root [source, foundation] or branch [offshoot, extension] will be left to them.” word study 2 “But for you who fear [revere, honor] My name, the sun [light, radiance] of righteousness will rise with healing [restoration, wholeness] in its wings, and you will go out and leap [dance, rejoice] like calves [young cattle, heifers] from the stall. word study 3 Then you will trample [tread down, crush] the wicked [evildoers, unrighteous], for they will be ashes [dust, refuse] under the soles [bottoms, surfaces] of your feet on the day [time, moment] I am preparing [appointing, acting],” says the LORD [Yehovah] of Hosts [Armies, Heaven]. word study 4 “Remember [keep in mind, recall] the law of My servant Moses, the statutes [rules, ordinances] and ordinances [judgments, decrees] I commanded [gave, instructed] him for all Israel [the people of Israel] at Horeb. word study 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great [terrible, dreadful] and awesome [fearful, terrifying] Day of the LORD. word study 6 And he will turn [restore, bring back] the hearts of the fathers [parents] to their children, and the hearts of the children [sons] to their fathers [parents]. Otherwise [lest], I will come and strike [smite, punish] the land [earth] with a curse [judgment, ban].” word study
