In times of uncertainty and concern, believers are encouraged to bring their anxieties to God in prayer. According to Philippians 4:6-7, presenting worries to God with thanksgiving leads to a profound peace that guards the heart and mind. The apostle Peter also reminds us to cast our cares upon God, who cares for us, as expressed in 1 Peter 5:7. Jesus Himself taught about the futility of worrying, using examples from nature to illustrate God's provision and care, as seen in Matthew 6:25-34. That is why I have sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which is exactly what I teach everywhere in every church. Some of you have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you. But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord is willing, and then I will find out not only what these arrogant people are saying, but what power they have. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. Which do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and with a gentle spirit?
If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than to have two hands and two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire.
Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see.
