As created beings, we are made in God's image, as stated in Genesis 1:27, giving us inherent value and worth. Through faith in Christ, we become His masterpieces, created for good works, as Ephesians 2:10 teaches. As followers of Jesus, we are part of a royal priesthood, a chosen people, according to 1 Peter 2:9, and are called to live out our identities as children of God. The apostle John reminds us that we are loved by the Father, and our true selves are being transformed into His likeness, as seen in 1 John 3:1-2, and we are also the temple of God, as 1 Corinthians 3:16 states.

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.
Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
