As followers of Christ, believers are called to be a light in the world, shining brightly for all to see. In Ephesians, the apostle Paul exhorts Christians to expose the darkness, while in Philippians, he encourages them to focus on what is noble and pure. Jesus Himself taught that His disciples are like a city on a hill, visible to all, and commissioned them to spread the gospel to every corner of the globe, as seen in Matthew and Mark. However, believers must also beware of being conformed to the world's patterns, as warned in Colossians, and instead strive to reflect the beauty of God's truth.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Even some of Paul’s friends who were officials of the province of Asia sent word to him, begging him not to venture into the theatre.
