Humankind's rebellion against God is recorded in Genesis, where Adam and Eve's disobedience in the Garden of Eden led to a fundamental break in their relationship with their Creator. As Genesis 3:6 and 3:17-19 describe, this act of sin had far-reaching consequences, affecting not only the first couple but also the entire creation. According to Romans 5:12 and 3:23, sin entered the world through Adam, causing all people to fall short of God's glory and become separated from Him. The biblical account of this event, including God's questioning of Adam in Genesis 3:9-10, underscores the gravity of humanity's rebellion and sets the stage for the redemptive story that unfolds throughout Scripture.

By the sweat of your brow you will eat your bread, until you return to the ground— because out of it were you taken. For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”

For the creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will, but because of the One who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time.
