12 Bible Verses on Testimony

12 verses

In sharing their experiences of God's work in their lives, believers provide a powerful witness to others. The man delivered from a legion of demons, for example, was told by Jesus to return home and declare what God had done for him, as seen in Luke 8:39. The Psalms, such as Psalms 66:16 and Psalms 71:15-18, also demonstrate the importance of publicly proclaiming God's goodness and faithfulness. Similarly, Revelation 12:11 highlights the ultimate triumph of those who remain faithful, even in the face of adversity, and 2 Timothy 1:8 encourages believers not to be ashamed to testify about the Lord.

Luke 8:39
“Return home and describe how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and proclaimed all over the town how much Jesus had done for him.
So do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me, His prisoner. Instead, join me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God.
They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they did not love their lives so as to shy away from death.
Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for me.
My mouth will declare Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot know their full measure. I will enter in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim Your righteousness—Yours alone. O God, You have taught me from my youth, and to this day I proclaim Your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come.
Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in heaven.
But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. But respond with gentleness and respect,
I will speak of Your testimonies before kings, and I will not be ashamed.
And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life. And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, and enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures—living in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. This is the Spirit He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we would become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
