12 Bible Verses on Temptation

12 verses

Scripture teaches that believers will face temptations, but God provides a way of escape from every trial. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, the apostle Paul assures believers that they will not be tempted beyond what they can bear. Jesus Himself faced temptation, as recorded in Matthew 26:41, where He prayed for strength in the face of temptation, and James 4:7 advises believers to resist the devil, who will flee from them. The book of Hebrews notes that Jesus' own experiences of temptation enable Him to sympathize with believers, as seen in Hebrews 2:18, and James 1:12-16 warns against succumbing to temptation, which can lead to spiritual death.
