5 Bible Verses on Tattletales

5 verses

In the biblical teachings on addressing wrongdoing, individuals are encouraged to handle situations with care and discretion. When a brother or sister in Christ sins, Matthew 18:15-17 guides believers to approach the situation with love and concern, rather than gossip or slander. The importance of truthful testimony is emphasized in Deuteronomy 19:15, while 2 Thessalonians 3:11-12 warns against idle chatter and encourages believers to be mindful of their words. As children of light, Ephesians 5:8-13 exhorts believers to expose evil deeds, and 2 Timothy 2:15 reminds them to handle the word of truth accurately, promoting a culture of honesty and integrity.

If your brother sins against you, go and confront him privately. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
A lone witness is not sufficient to establish any wrongdoing or sin against a man, regardless of what offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Yet we hear that some of you are leading undisciplined lives and accomplishing nothing but being busybodies. We command and urge such people by our Lord Jesus Christ to begin working quietly to earn their own living.
Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed workman who accurately handles the word of truth.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. Test and prove what pleases the Lord. Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself.
