The presence of God is often described as the Spirit of the Lord, who brings empowerment, guidance, and liberation. In Isaiah 61:1, this Spirit is associated with anointing, freedom, and comfort, while in John 14:17 and 14:26, Jesus promises that the Spirit will be a helper and teacher for His disciples. The New Testament also teaches that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom, as stated in 2 Corinthians 3:17, and that the Spirit sets believers free from the law of sin and death, as Romans 8:2 affirms. Through the Spirit, God's people experience His presence and power in their lives.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners,
the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
