6 Bible Verses on Praising Oneself

6 verses

In the eyes of God, humility is a vital virtue, and self-praise is seen as a hindrance to a healthy relationship with Him. According to Proverbs, it is wise to let others praise us, rather than boasting about ourselves. The Bible teaches that our righteousness is like filthy rags, as stated in Isaiah, and that true praise should be directed towards God, as expressed in Psalms. Instead of exalting ourselves, we are encouraged to offer sacrifices of praise to God, as mentioned in Hebrews, and trust in His power and wisdom, as seen in Luke.

Each of us has become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away like the wind.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name.
For no word from God will ever fail. ”
Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds— He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion, who satisfies you with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
He is your praise and He is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome wonders that your eyes have seen.
