11 Bible Verses on Mission Work

11 verses

The call to spread the good news of salvation is a central theme throughout Scripture. In the Great Commission, Jesus commands His disciples to "go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15), a mandate repeated in Matthew 28:19-20. The book of Acts records the early church's obedience to this command, as believers are sent out to be witnesses "in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8). As seen in Psalms 96:3, proclaiming God's glory and salvation to all nations is a key part of the Christian mission, with Jesus Himself praying for His followers to be sent into the world, just as He was sent by the Father (John 17:18).

“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.”
So Jesus asked the Twelve, “Do you want to leave too?” Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God. ” Jesus answered them, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!” He was speaking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. For although Judas was one of the Twelve, he was later to betray Jesus.
