In the eyes of God, marriage is a sacred bond between two people, but it is not a permanent institution that continues after death. According to Romans 7:2 and 1 Corinthians 7:39, the marriage bond is dissolved when one spouse passes away. The Bible teaches that our ultimate hope and comfort are found in God's love, as expressed in John 3:16, and that in heaven, there will be no more sorrow or pain, as Revelation 21:4 promises. The original design for marriage, as seen in Genesis 2:24, is a beautiful picture of earthly union, but it is not a relationship that extends into eternity.
