In God's plan, true happiness is found in a deep and abiding relationship with Him. The Psalms teach that delighting in the Lord leads to desires being fulfilled, as expressed in Psalms 37:4. The book of Ecclesiastes notes that enjoying life's simple pleasures, like eating and drinking, can bring happiness, as seen in Ecclesiastes 3:12. Ultimately, the Bible points to joy in the Lord as the source of lasting happiness, as Philippians 4:4 and Isaiah 12:2 attest, while Proverbs 3:13-18 describes the blessings of wisdom and the happy life that follows.

I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and do good while they live,
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. For the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and He also has become my salvation.”
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who acquires understanding, for she is more profitable than silver, and her gain is better than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire compares with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. All her ways are pleasant, and all her paths are peaceful. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her, and those who lay hold of her are blessed.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear what they fear; do not be shaken.”
That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.
Whoever heeds instruction will find success, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.
