16 Bible Verses on Growing in Knowledge

16 verses

As believers mature in their walk with God, they are called to increase in their understanding of His truth. The apostle Peter urges Christians to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18), while Paul prays that the Philippians' "love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight" (Philippians 1:9). The Scriptures, which are "God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16-17), play a vital role in this process, and believers are encouraged to crave them like newborn babies long for milk (1 Peter 2:2). By diligently studying and applying God's Word, as instructed in 2 Timothy 2:15, Christians can deepen their understanding of God's will and live a life that honors Him.

We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain, because you are dull of hearing. Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to reteach you the basic principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food! For everyone who lives on milk is still an infant, inexperienced in the message of righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

I planted the seed and Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
