In the life of a believer, spiritual growth and maturity are evidenced by the production of fruit. According to Galatians, this fruit includes qualities such as love, joy, and peace, which are the natural result of living in harmony with God's Spirit. As Jesus teaches in John, believers are chosen and appointed to bear fruit that will last, and apart from Him, they can do nothing. The books of James and Matthew also emphasize the importance of producing fruit that is consistent with repentance and a genuine faith, as seen in the way one lives and interacts with others, while John highlights the necessity of abiding in Christ to produce such fruit.
