14 Bible Verses on Fathers Day

14 verses

The Bible teaches that fathers have a sacred responsibility to lead and nurture their children in the ways of the Lord. In Psalms, God is described as a compassionate father who shows mercy to those who fear Him, setting an example for human fathers to follow. The book of Proverbs offers practical wisdom on parenting, such as training children in the way they should go, as seen in Proverbs 22:6, and the joy that comes from raising righteous children, as expressed in Proverbs 23:24. According to Ephesians 6:4, fathers are to bring up their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, and Psalms 127:3-5 acknowledges the blessing of children and the importance of fatherly guidance.

Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. He will not be put to shame when he confronts the enemies at the gate.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath; instead, bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
The father of a righteous man will greatly rejoice, and he who fathers a wise son will delight in him.
But if it is unpleasing in your sight to serve the LORD, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!”
The righteous man walks with integrity; blessed are his children after him.
My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD, and do not loathe His rebuke; for the LORD disciplines the one He loves, as does a father the son in whom he delights.
Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged.
He who fears the LORD is secure in confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.
So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still in the distance, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.
Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be men of courage. Be strong.
And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Otherwise, I will come and strike the land with a curse.”
Honor your father and mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
