7 Bible Verses on Distance

7 verses

In the midst of a world filled with temptations and distractions, believers are called to maintain a healthy distance from sin and its influences. The book of 1 John warns against loving the world, while Psalms encourages separation from the wicked to walk in righteousness. As seen in Ephesians, believers are to have no fellowship with darkness, instead exposing and rebuking evil. By maintaining this distance, Christians can remain faithful, as urged in Revelation, and address conflicts in a biblical manner, as outlined in Matthew.

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does. Not so the wicked! For they are like chaff driven off by the wind. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD guards the path of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
If your brother sins against you, go and confront him privately. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, regard him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
The entire law is fulfilled in a single decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
