The ultimate consequence of rejecting God's offer of salvation is a fate of eternal separation from Him. According to Revelation 20:11-15, all whose names are not found in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire, a place of torment and darkness. Jesus Himself warned of this reality in Matthew 25:41, where He speaks of those who will be sent away to eternal punishment. In contrast, those who have put their faith in Jesus will not come into judgment, as stated in John 5:24, and will instead receive the gift of eternal life, for as Romans 6:23 teaches, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And there were open books, and one of them was the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead, and each one was judged according to his deeds. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire. And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
