13 Bible Verses on Being Blessed

13 verses

In God's plan, blessings are bestowed upon those who trust in Him and live according to His will. The Psalms, such as Psalms 1:1-6, describe the blessed person as one who delights in God's law and walks in His ways. Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, recorded in Matthew 5:1-12, teaches that blessings come to those who are poor in spirit, mourn, and are persecuted for righteousness' sake. As Ephesians 2:8 reminds us, salvation itself is a gift from God, and 1 Peter 3:14 encourages believers to rejoice even in suffering, for they are blessed when they suffer for doing what is right.

For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does. Not so the wicked! For they are like chaff driven off by the wind. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD guards the path of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain and sat down. His disciples came to Him, and He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.
But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear what they fear; do not be shaken.”
Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,
“Now if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God and are careful to follow all His commandments I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you will obey the voice of the LORD your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward.
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
