Unreached of the Day: Baonuo of China

Baonuo of China
The Baonuo are an isolated and primitive people, most of whom have never heard of the name of Jesus, although a small number has believed in Christ in recent years. The Baonuo live in extremely remote villages and are terrified of outsiders. Several foreigners who visited a Baonuo village in the mid-1980s, without prior notice, were stoned to death. At funerals the Baonuo hold a traditional bull-beheading ceremony. "Thirty or more brass drums are hung from a frame. The Baonuo consider their brass drums sacred. They are normally hidden away except for special occasions. An offering of wine, meat, rice and water is performed by the head of the family. After the drum beating a large water buffalo is beheaded." The Baonuo possess their own ethnicity and speak their own distinct language.

Ministry Obstacles
The Baonuo tribe is very wary of outsiders. Also, no scripture is reported as available in their language.

Outreach Ideas
Gospel recordings are available in the language of these people, and there are a few reported believers among them. Perhaps workers can establish trust with these believers, and use recordings and other means to help the believers grow in maturity and numbers.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Please pray for the few members of this tribe who follow Jesus. Pray that teachers will be sent to them, and that they will learn to fellowship together.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray this primitive tribe will open up more to the world around them, and that they will see the value of seeking an education for their children.

Scripture Focus
"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed." Acts 17:30-31
