Alfred P. Gibbs (1890 - 1967)
Listen to freely downloadable audio sermons by the speaker Alfred P. Gibbs in mp3 format. Alfred P. Gibbs was born in 1890 in Birmingham, England, and was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. His twin brother, Edwin, led him to Christ. He served in World War I as a chaplain. In 1919, he left for Moody Bible School in Chicago.
While there, he became involved with Rescue Mission, an assembly-operated organization as well as worked part time at Emmaus Bible School. In 1931, he published a hymnbook filled with songs he composed and wrote himself. Some of these hymns are A Thousand A Thousand Thanksgivings and Sweet Is The Story. He never married and lived out of a suitcase for most of his life. In 1967, he passed away in a car accident. He was an excellent gospel preacher and loved serving others.
