Slumdog
The term "slumdog" does not appear in the Bible, as it is a modern colloquial term that arose in the context of socio-economic discussions, particularly in relation to poverty and living conditions in urban areas. The term gained popularity with the release of the film "Slumdog Millionaire," which highlights the struggles and resilience of individuals living in slums, particularly in India. In biblical terms, the Bible speaks extensively about the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed, emphasizing God's concern for them. For instance, passages such as Proverbs 31:8-9 call on individuals to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and to defend the rights of the poor and needy. Similarly, in the New Testament, Jesus’ ministry often focused on the marginalized, proclaiming good news to the poor (Luke 4:18). Thus, while "slumdog" itself is not a biblical term, the underlying themes of poverty and the need for compassion towards the less fortunate resonate deeply with biblical teachings.
