Plan

2 sermons

In the Bible, the concept of "plan" often refers to God's sovereign purpose and intention for creation and humanity. The Hebrew word "מַחֲשָׁבָה" (machashavah) and the Greek word "βούλησις" (boulesis) encapsulate this idea. For instance, in Jeremiah 29:11, God declares, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This verse highlights God's intentional design for the well-being of His people, suggesting that His plans are inherently good and aimed at restoration and hope.Furthermore, the New Testament emphasizes that God's plans are ultimately fulfilled through Christ. Ephesians 1:11 speaks of "being predestined according to the purpose of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will," indicating that God's overarching plan encompasses all of history. This theological perspective suggests that while humans may make their own plans (Proverbs 16:9), it is ultimately God's plan that prevails, reflecting His omniscience and divine sovereignty over the course of events in the world.
