Godhead
The term "Godhead" in the Bible refers to the divine nature or essence of God, particularly in the context of the Trinity, which encompasses the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. The concept is most notably expressed in Acts 17:29, where Paul states that "we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device." Here, "Godhead" signifies the supreme, transcendent nature of God that is distinct from created things. In theological discourse, the Godhead emphasizes the unity and co-equality of the three persons of the Trinity, as well as their shared divine attributes. Colossians 2:9 further reinforces this idea by declaring that "in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily," referring to Christ and underscoring His divine nature. Additionally, the term is often associated with the idea of divine majesty and sovereignty, as seen in Romans 1:20, where Paul asserts that God's eternal power and divine nature are evident in creation, leaving humanity without excuse for not recognizing Him. Thus, the Godhead encapsulates both the mystery of God's triune existence and the fullness of His divine authority and presence in the world.
