Christ Our High Priest

1 sermons

Christ, our High Priest, holds a unique and essential role in the redemptive narrative of Scripture. As articulated in Hebrews 4:14-16, Jesus ascended into heaven as the great High Priest who is able to empathize with our weaknesses, having been tempted in every way yet without sin. This profound understanding allows Him to intercede for us, offering grace and mercy at the throne of grace, as we approach Him in our times of need. The book of Hebrews further emphasizes that unlike the Levitical priests who offered sacrifices repeatedly, Christ offered Himself once for all (Hebrews 10:10), establishing a new covenant that grants believers direct access to God. His sacrificial death and resurrection fulfill the requirements of the law, as seen in Romans 8:3-4, providing a pathway for reconciliation with the Father. Moreover, in 1 Timothy 2:5, we are reminded that there is one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who bridges the gap created by sin. Through His priestly ministry, believers are assured of His ongoing advocacy, as stated in 1 John 2:1, where He is described as our advocate with the Father. Thus, understanding Christ as our High Priest not only deepens our appreciation of His sacrifice but also strengthens our faith in His continual intercession on our behalf.
