P Lips I. 119 verso ii. 6 (A.D. 274) περὶ τὸ ὀρθῶς καὶ ἀ [ζ ]η̣λοπραγμόνως τῶν ὑπαρξάντων ἀγαθῶν ἐμφορουμένους βιοῦν , P Flor I. 57 .3 (A.D. 223 5) (a rescript of Pertinax) τοῖς ἑ [β ]δ̣ο̣μ̣η̣κ̣ο̣ντα ἔτη βεβιω̣κόσι γέρας ἀλ̣ιτ̣ο̣υρ̣γησίας [is granted as an old age pension] (cf. the contemporary P Flor III. 382 .55 f. ), Syll 856 .16 (ii/B.C. a manumission sale to Apollo, in dialect) εἰ γε [ν ]εὰν ποιήσαιτο Δαμαρχὶς Θευδώρας βιούσας , during the lifetime of Th. (her mistress). The aor. is abundant in epitaphs, as Preisigke 776 (A.D. 259) Ἱερακίαινα . . . βιώσασα ἔτη η̄ καὶ μην (ῶν ) τριῶν , 1190 (Christian) Ταήσαι ἐβίωσεν εἴκουσι ὀκτώ , γ (ίνονται ) (ἔτη ) κ̄η̄ . Hense) p. 89 .16 f. ὥστε καὶ τὸν ἄνθρωπον εἰκὸς οὐχ ὅταν ἐν ἡδονῇ βιοῖ , τότε κατὰ φύσιν βιοῦν , ἀλλ᾽ ὅταν ἐν ἀρετῇ .
