αὐγάζω [page 90] Nδgeli (p. 25) translates this verb by see, see clearly in the Pauline passage 2Co_4:4 εἰς τὸ μὴ αὐγάσαι τὸν φωτισμὸν τοῦ εὐαγγελίου τῆς δόξης τοῦ Χριστοῦ , holding that there is no reason why this old poetic sense (Soph. Ph. 217) should not have passed into the Κοινή . It should be noticed that in the LXX ( Lev_13:25 al ) the word has the wholly different meaning of appear white or bright.
