Moulton & Milligan — Vocabulary of the Greek NT
αὐγάζω [page 90]
Nδgeli (p. 25) translates this verb by see, see clearly in the Pauline passage 2Co_4:4 εἰς τὸ μὴ αὐγάσαι τὸν φωτισμὸν τοῦ εὐαγγελίου τῆς δόξης τοῦ Χριστοῦ , holding that there is no reason why this old poetic sense (Soph. Ph. 217) should not have passed into the Κοινή . It should be noticed that in the LXX ( Lev_13:25 al ) the word has the wholly different meaning of appear white or bright. For the compd. διαυγάζω see the horoscope P Lond 130 .70 (i/ii A.D.) (= I. p. 135) διηύγαζεν .
