This proper name is by no means peculiar to Rome ( Rom_16:14 ), though as yet it has not been very widely attested : see, however CIL VI. 12565 (Rome), IX. 114 (Brundisium), IX. 224 (Uria), and perhaps IG III. 1093 h .5 (Attica) Ἀ ]σύγκρ [ιτος ] : cf. Rouffiac, p. 90 f., following Lietzmann ( HZNT ad l. ). For the adj. from which it is derived cf. BGU II. 613 .20 (ii/A.D.) ἐκ τῆς ἀσυνκρίτ (ου ) ἐπιστροφῆς , and one of the letters in the Abinnaeus correspondence, P Gen I. 55 .4 ff. (iv/A.D.) ἔσπευσα προσαγορεῦσέ σου τὴν ἀμίμητον καλοκαγαθίαν ὡς ἀληθος ἀσύνκριτον ἐπίπαν , P Oxy X. 1298 .1 (iv/A.D., Christian) τῷ δεσπότῃ καὶ ἀσυνκρίτῳ καὶ παραμυθίᾳ τῶν φίλων , to my incomparable master, the consolation of his friends (Edd.).
