an egg ( Luk_11:12 ) (for form, Blass-Debrunner § 26). An interesting ex. of this common word is afforded by P Oxy I. 83 .8 (A.D. 327), the declaration by an egg-seller that he will not sell eggs except in the public market ὁμολογῶ . . . τὴν διάπρασίν μοι τῶν ὀῶν ( l. ᾠῶν ) ποιήσασθαι ἐπὶ τῆς ἀγορᾶς δημοσίᾳ .
