Φανουήλ [page 663]
indecl., Phanouel (Luk. 2:36). Deissmann ( BS p. 77, n. .3 ) has pointed out that Philo De confusione ling . 129 (ed. Wendland) ἔστι δὲ ὡς μὲν Ἑβραῖοι λέγουσι Φανουήλ , ὡς δὲ ἡμεῖς ἀποστροφὴ θεοῦ , is of great interest in regard to Philo s opinion as to his own language : he felt himself to be a Greek.
