For the subst. cf. ib. 470 .24 (time of Augustus) τῇ τῶν Ἑλλήνων συνπα [θείᾳ . In Epicurus συμπάθεια has often the general meaning correspondence, e.g. Ep. I. 48, 50 (ed. Bailey). Συμπαθηθῆναι is one of the numerous list of passive aorists which are found in the Bvzantine chronicles, though not in Attic Greek : see Psaltes Gr. p. 226.
