(Herodotus, Josephus, Diodorus, Aelian, Herodian, others; for πΗςΗμ in Isa_20:2; Jdt_10:4 Jdt_16:9. (In the Sept. and Josephus σανδάλιον and ὑπόδημα are used indiscriminately; cf. [[σαν ]]δ (άλια ) βατ (= δ )ιστικὰ β̄ , 2 walking-shoes. In P Oxy IV. 741 .10 (ii/A.D.) σ̣α̣νδάλια ὀνικ (ά ), both the reading and meaning are doubtful, donkey straps (?) (Edd.).
