παρασκευάζω; perfect passive παρεσκεύασμαι; future middle παρασκευάσομαι; from Herodotus down; to make ready, prepare: namely, τό δεῖπνον (added in Herodotus 9, 82; Athen. 4, 15, p. 138), Act_10:10 (συμπόσιον, Halt. 9, 15; 2Ma_2:27). Middle to make oneself ready, to prepare oneself (cf. Winer's Grammar, § 38, 2 a.): εἰς πόλεμον, 1Co_14:8 (Jeremiah 27:42 (); εἰς μάχην, εἰς ναυμαχιαν, etc., in Xenophon). Perfect passive in middle sense, to have prepared oneself, to be prepared or ready, 2Co_9:2 f (see Matthiae, § 493).

The verb is used in a causative sense in P Amh II. 145 .11 (iv/v A.D.) οὐδὲν ἕτε [ρον ] παρασκευάζει πολλοὺς εἰδότας τὸ [σὸν ] ε̣ἰς ἡμᾶς ἐνδιάθετον προσφεύγειν [μοι , no other reason causes many who know your feelings for me to come to me for help (Edd.), PSI I. 50 .3 (iv/v A.D.) σοι ἐδήλωσα ἵνα παρασκευάσῃς τοὺς σκυτέας ( the leather workers ) τοῦ Ἀμμωνίου παρασχεῖν τῷ ταυρελάτῃ ( the bull driver ) τὸ δέρμα , and the late BGU I. 103 .5 (vi/vii A.D.)
