παραγγέλλω is common in Ptolemaic papyri to describe the official summons before a court, e.g. P Par 46 17 (B.C. 153) (= UPZ i. p. 338) γέγραφά σοι , ὅπω [ς ] Ἀπολλωνίωι παραγγείληις , P Grenf I. 40 .6 (ii/B.C.) (= Chrest. II. p. 21 ) ἔκρινον γράψαι σοι ὅπως εἰδὼς παραγγείλης καὶ τ [οῖς ] ἄλλοις ἱερεῦσι ἑτοίμους εἶναι , and P Tebt I. 14 .5 (B.C. 114) ἔγραψας ἡμῖν Ἡρᾶν ( l. Ἡρᾶτι ) . . . εὐθυνομένωι δὲ φόνωι καὶ ἄλλαις αἰτία <ι >ς παραγγεῖλαι ἀπαντᾶν ἐν ἡμέραι <ς > τρισὶν πρὸς τὴν περὶ τούτων ἐσομένην διεξαγωγήν , you wrote to me that I was to give notice to Heras who is arraigned for murder and other offences to appear in three days time for the decision to be made concerning these charges (Edd.).
