ὄψιος, ὀψία, ὀψιον (ὀψέ), late; 1. as an adjective ((Pindar) Thucydides, Demosthenes, Aristotle, Theophrastus, others; (Lob. ad Phryn., p. 51f)): ἡ ὥρα, Mar_11:11 (but T Tr marginal reading WH text ὀψέ, which see) (ὀψία ἐν νυκτί, Pindar Isthm. 4, 59). 2. contrary to the usage of secular authors ἡ ὀψία as a substantive (namely, ὥρα (cf. Winers Grammar, 591f (550); Buttmann, 82 (71))), evening: i. e. either from our three to six o'clock p. m., Mat_8:16; Mat_14:15; Mat_27:57; Mar_4:35; or from our six o'clock p. m. to the beginning of night, Mat_14:23; Mat_16:2 there T brackets WH reject the passage); ; Mar_1:32; Mar_6:47; Mar_14:17; Mar_15:42; Joh_6:16; Joh_20:19,(hence, δΘςΗψΐαΗΜιΔν αΕΜιο, between the two evenings, Exo_12:6; Exo_16:12; Exo_29:39 (cf.
