ὀρθρίζω [page 457]
rise early, takes the place of the classical ὀρθρεύω in Biblical Greek (except in Tob_9:6 B) : see Luk_21:38 and the LXX saepe. According to Thumb ( Hellen. p. 123) the dependence of the verb on the Heb. δΔωΡΐαΜΔιν in the sense of rise early is very improbable, and reference is made to such analogous verbs in MGr as νυχτορεύω , work throughout the night, and μεσημεριάζω , do something at midday.
