The word is found in the fragment of a metrological work, P Oxy IV. 669 .39 (later than A.D. 287) οἱ δ̄ (πήχεις ) ὀργυιά , ὁ̣̓ [ργυιὰ ] δέ ἐστιν ἡ διάστασις τῶν χιρῶ [ν , 4 cubits an ὀργυιά , which is the distance of the outstretched hands (Edd.) : cf.
