μαγία , μαγεία , found in Act_8:11 , may be illustrated from Wόnsch AF p. 16 .14 (iii/A.D.) ὁρκίζω σε τὸν θεὸν τὸν πάσης μαγείας τὴν ἐω̣γ̣σιν ἀνθρωπίνην σειυπν̣ . . ., where the editor understands the last words as equivalent to something like τὸν πάσης μαγείας τὴν γνῶσιν ἀνθρωπίνην πορίσαντα , and remarks that magic is originally something divine, holy (ἱερᾶς μαγείας pap. Parth. 1 127).
