This dim. of κύων , which occurs quater in the NT, is used atleast once by Epictetus iv. 1. 111 εἶθ᾽ οὕτως . . πρόσελθε ἐπὶ κυνάριον , ἐπὶ ἱππάριον , ἐπὶ ἀγρίδιον , then proceed thus . . . to a dog, a horse, an estate (Sharp, p. 23). For the more classical κυνίδιον (Lob. Phryn. p.180) see M. Antoninus vii. 13 κυνιδίοις ὀστάριον ἐρριμένον , a bone thrown to lap-dogs.
