This medical term (Hobart, p. 69 f.), which in the NT is found only in the Lukan writings, occurs in a medical receipt of early i/A.D., P Oxy VIII. 1088 .29 ὕπτιον κατακλίνας τὸν ἄνθρωπον θεράπευε , lay the man on his back and treat him (Ed.) : cf. the use of the adj. in P Ryl II. 124 .26 (i/A.D.) ὥστε αὐτὴν κατακρινῆ ( l. κατακλινῆ ) εἶναι , so that she is laid up in bed (Edd.). The verb is found in Cagnat IV. 661 .21 (a will A.D. 85) ἵνα μόνοι οἱ παρόντες καὶ κατακλεινόμενοι βουλευταὶ λαμβάνωσι τὴν διανομὴν [τα ]ύτην : for the subst. cf. ib. .5 γείν [εσ ]θαι δὲ τὴν κατάκλισιν μηνὸς Πανήμου ἡμέρᾳ εὐδαιμοσύνης .
