Εὐρακύλων [page 264]
For the formation of this word, which is not found except in Act_27:14 , the lexicographers compare Εὐρόνοτος . According to Blass ( ad l. ), it is a vox hybrida made up of εὖρος and aquilo ( qui Lat. = κῠ as in Ἀκύλας 18 .2 ) : cf. Goodspeed Exp VI. viii. p. 140, the Greek east wind combined with the Latin north-east (more exactly east-north-east) wind.
