ἐρεύγομαι: future ἐρεύξομαι; 1. to spit or spue out (Homer). 2. to be emptied, discharge itself, used of streams (Appendix Mithr c. 103); with the accusative to empty, discharge, cast forth, of rivers and waters: Lev_11:10 the Sept. 3. by a usage foreign to classic Greek (Winers Grammar, 23 (22f)), to pour forth words, to speak out, utter: Mat_13:35 (Psa_77:2 (); cf. Psa_18:3 (); (Alex.)). The word is more fully treated of by Lobeck ad Phryn., p. 63; (cf. Rutherford, New Phryn., p. 138).

ἐρεύγομαι [page 253] A new literary reference for this word, corresponding to the usage in Mat_13:35 (cf. (cf. Psa. 18꞉ 3 [MT Psa_19:3 ]), may be cited from P Oxy VII. 1011, fol. I verso .7 , a fragment of Callimachus ὤναο κάρ᾽ ( l. κάρθ᾽ ἕνεκ᾽ οὔ τι θεῆς ἴδες ἱερὰ φρικτῆς , ἐξενέπειν καὶ τῶν ἤρυγες ἱστορίην . Lucky indeed for thee that thou hast never seen the mysteries of the dread goddess, or thou hadst e en begun to blurt out the tale of them (Ed.). In his note Hunt says ἐξενέπειν ἤρυγες is perhaps a just possible expression for began to tell.
