This word, which in the NT occurs only in Act_15:28 , and is described by Blass ( ad l. ) as a doctum vocabulum which Luke might naturally be expected to use, may be illustrated by P Ryl II. 65 .5 (B.C. 67?) δι᾽ ἧς ἐπάναγκες τὸν παραβησόμενον . . . ἀποτεῖσαι τῶι ἔθνει ἐπίτιμον , where by it was provided that any person breaking the agreement should be compelled to pay to the association a fine, P Flor I. 50 .107 (A.D. 268) ω̣[στε̣ ἑκάστην μερίδα ἐπάναγκες χορηγεῖν , P Oxy I. 102 .18 (A.D. 306) βεβαιουμένης δέ μοι τῆς ἐπιδ [ο ]χῆς ἐπάναγκες ἀποδώσω τὰ λυπὰ ( l. λοιπὰ ) τοῦ φόρου , and from the inscrr.
