In a marriage-contract of A.D. 170 provision is made that in the event of a separation taking place the dowry shall be repaid ἐν ἡμέραις ἑξήκοντα ἀ [φ᾽ ἧ ]ς̣ ἐ̣[ὰν ἡ ἀ ]παλλαγὴ γένηται (P Oxy VI. 905 .13 = Selections , p. 87). The editors note that in Roman marriage-contracts thirty days is a commoner limit. According to Thumb ( Handbook, p. 328) ἑξήντα δυό , sixty-two, in MGr denotes an indefinitely large number.
